Our Class visit to Chester!
Throughout Autumn, Ash class has been learning all about the Romans. To complete their learning, they visited the Deva Roman experience in Chester.
The children participated in an exciting guided tour inside the attraction and around the city of Chester, exploring the Roman sites with their very own Roman Solider.
First of all, the children were enlisted into the Roman army and were equipped with their very own Roman shield, before marching in formation to visit the Roman gardens. Here, the children learnt what it took to be a Roman solider and practised a number of formations to protect themselves from the enemy.
During the afternoon session, the children were transported back to the time of the Romans, where they travelled across the sea to the North of Brittania, to the Roman Fortress of Deva. They experienced what it would have felt like to board the ship, they visited market stalls and looked at Roman cuisine, visited the Roman bath house, the amphitheatre and participated in a number of practical activities.
We all had an incredible day, consolidating our learning of the Romans!
